LA Noire on three discs

May 6, 2011

Bossfight Gaming Blog - LA Noire

LA Noire is going to be a three disc game for the Xbox 360, so Rockstar says:

“L.A. Noire was always going to be a massive game, from the size and detail of the world to the length of the cases, and of course, the sheer amount of MotionScan data required for the faces of over 400 actors in-game.

To tell the story and make the game we wanted to make, we knew that it was going to take an entire single layer Blu-ray disc and three Xbox discs.”

Gears of War 3 less is more?

March 30, 2011

Bossfight Gaming Blog - Gears of War 3
Gears of War 2: Big, Better and more Badass -> Gears of War 3: Less is more?

That sounds a little bit off track for Gears of War doesn’t it? Exactly what I thought.
This is what they have to say about it:

“But going from 2 to 3, we’ve actually added less. We’ve changed it to be a NMBL – new, more, better, less – process instead. And we figured out there were some things we wanted to reduce down. But then, knowing it’s the last one, you kind of think, ‘Let’s just shove as much in as possible’ – but that’s not our way

Let’s pray this is going to A: Make up for Gears of War 2 and B: Be a good finale

God of War’s Kratos in Mortal Kombat

March 25, 2011

Bossfight Gaming Blog - Mortal Kombat Kratos
Exclusive to the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat, Kratos (from the God of War series)will be a playable character.

His appearance, yelling and unforgivingness makes him a perfect addition to the Mortal Kombat roster. So unless they come with a worthy counter for the Xbox 360 version I’ll stick with the PS3 version for now.

Crysis 2 PC, Xbox VS PS3

March 24, 2011

Bossfight Gamingblog Crysis 2 Art

For your information the graphical ranking of Crysis between the different platforms. I’ve seen a lot of Fanboy discussions but this one is based on facts.

1. PC
No surprise that on the PC Platform Crysis 2 looks at it’s best.
In terms of framerate, level of detail and the resolution.
Depends of course on what kind of machine you have at home. But if you have the machine for it be sure to get it!

2. Xbox 360
An unexpected second place for the Xbox 360 better framerate, higher resolution, and some extra effects compared to the PS3.

3. PS 3
The most powerfull console on the market you would expect it to be on the second spot right behind the PC. But a worse framerate, lower resolution, and missing effects compared to the 360 release hurt it. PS3 owners expect more.

Does this mean developers are still more comfortable with developing for the Xbox 360? I can imagin that it is easier to go from PC to Xbox.
But why not put the effort into the PS3 version to really show it’s power? This game was the chance to really use the cell processor of the PS3.
This because of the techdemo status Crysis has.. so you would expect the emphasis should be on the graphics on every platform!

Feel free to drop you opinion about this.

No standard move controller for Playstation 4

March 17, 2011

Bosfight Gaming Blog - Playstation Move

We can’t deny that the motion controllers have been a huge succes. Despite that, it is not going to be the standard for the Playstation 4 says Dr. Richard Marks head of Sony’s R&D department.

“I don’t think that makes sense”

he said in an interview with gamasutra

“I said that pretty much from the beginning that we’re not trying to get rid of the gamepad. The gamepad is a really good abstract device. It can map to so many different things. It doesn’t map one-to-one to those things, but it doesn’t need to for a lot of game experiences.”

Marks did admit that the standard gamecontrollers scares a part of the audience,

“It is still intimidating to some audiences, some people. And so, those people might like Move better. So, I think having both offered to people that want to play is the right choice right now.”

It varies per game,

“I think the DualShock, it’s just better for some experiences, but the Move is better for other ones. There’s just no way to combine them and just say one is the right thing to have. I don’t mean there’s no way to combine them. I mean just throwing one of them away is not the right choice.”

I must admit that I do not own a Move controller or a Kinect, so for me this sounds quite logical. They didn’t convince me yet…
What do you think about this?

In a previous post: Bossfight Gaming Blog – Blizzard Goes Console With Diablo 3

We already covered this. But recently the rumours started again since they are looking for another senior producer and developers with console experience.
And as you would expect they don’t confirm anything.
