Angry Birds Rio sells 10 Million in 10 Days!

April 4, 2011

Bossfight Gaming Blog - Angry Birds Rio
Angry Birds Rio the sequel to Angry Birds has just been released for 10 days and has already been sold 10 million times!

You can do the math yourself 0.79cents *10.000.000 = 7.900.000 million euros!
Seriously….That’s a lot of money for ten days not even counting the money they made on part one!

Rovio replies:

“10 in 10:-) Angry Birds Rio breaking all records. A massive thanks to all our fans!!!”

I would thank my fans too for that kind of money! Poor creator of the Box2d engine wishes he’d never released that engine as open source!

Tiny Wings

Bossfight Gaming Blog - Tiny Wings
This weekend an update for one of my favorite Iphone games released; Tiny Wings. So I grabbed the chance to talk about this great game.

This weekend Tiny Wings got an update including Game Center support and a new nest! This game is a perfect example of how a simple game meganic and creative thinking come together.
And what is even more impressive is that this game is the work of only one person! The Idea, graphics, Programming, Marketing and everything else I forgot.

The Art Style is good, but simple, you’ll fall in love with the little bird right away. Also the gameplay is very good but simple, you only need one finger on or of the screen to play the game.
You’ll play the same levels over and over again but every time there are different objectives which challenge you to play the game in a different way.

You’ll be entertained with this game for days, it’s so good, but simple enjoy!

Angry Birds > Awkward Birds?(Box2d Calls out Rovio)

Bosfight Gaming Blog - Angry Birds

At this years GDC Peter Vesterbacka and his flock of Angry Birds developers at Rovio held a panel on the breakout iPhone hit. But things turned a little awkward during the questions and answers session.

Random Person: “Hi Peter, could you tell me which physics engine Angy Birds uses?”
Peter: “Box2D
Random Person: “Great. Would you consider giving credit to Box2D in your game?”
Peter: “Yes, of course”
Random Person: “Thank you! By the way, I am Erin Catto the creator of Box2D
Peter: “Great! I would like to talk to you after the session”

Technically speaking Rovio isn’t at all obligated to compensate. See Box2d Lincense below:

The origin of this software must not be misrepresented; you must not claim that you wrote the original software. If you use this software in a product, an acknowledgment in the product documentation would be appreciated but is not required.

Personally I find this a very difficult discussion, of course Box2d is open source and free to use. But C’mon you earned 50 million out of the freaking game based on this engine could you not at least give the guy some credit for it?
I Would sure like to see how this one turns out…

Feel free to give your opinion!

Texting of the bread

November 25, 2010

One of the first posts I made was about Typing of the Dead. I was wondering why there was no mobile version of this game. It would be a fun and easy way to improve your typing skills on modern day smartphone. Last week I stumbled upon a game called Texting of the Bread. It was released on the iPhone and iPad last month.

Check out a video below.

Keep your fingers crossed for an Android version
